Terrace
and Region Archives
Terrace and Region
Archives was formed in the spring of 1999. We hope to help preserve
the local history by collecting stories and pictures from our
pioneers and also other collections of pictures which people
have that they are willing to share.
The Terrace Public
Library offered us the use of their computers which had been
donated by Hewlett Packard-Bell for community use. We started
this website in order for the general public to be able to view
these stories and pictures.
We dedicate
this website to the early settlers of our valley, both men and
women who came from every corner of the globe.
The
Skeena Valley had been advertised as a place of great agricultural
potential, and these people were drawn by the promise of a better
life for themselves and for their families. They were all an
honest lot, who came and accepted hardship and struggle for
a life in this wilderness. Now we honour these pioneer people,
for opening up our Skeena Valley. These stories are told of
a few who came to settle here in the Valley and the many others
who have been forgotten. We pay a tribute to all of them for
their many hours of hard work and struggle; their dedication
to clear the way for the rest of us now to enjoy today.
